The Hills Episode 14 Forgive and Forget

lauren and heidi

Heidi tries to make up with Lauren:

Well folks, this was the episode of The Hills that we’ve all been waiting for. Lauren and Heidi sit down and re-hash everything that’s happened to their friendship this past year. Of course, there were many things in this episode that lead up to this moment.

Lisa Love finally lets Lauren and Whitney attend an event just for fun. The girls immediately look up who’s going to be attending and notice that Brent Bolthouse is a member of the advisory board. Could this mean that Lauren and Heidi would be attending the same event? Oh MTV how you set up these run-ins perfectly. Lauren and Whitney walk in followed a few minutes later by Heidi and her co-worker Kimberly. But Audrina is nowhere to be found. Cut to her on date with the gentlemanly Justin Bobby. Did anyone else wonder why Audrina didn’t even seem to notice JB taking shots alone and incessantly burping? At least we learned that Audrina finally got promoted from receptionist. She now gets her own cubicle and gets to work with artists. Sounds like things are starting to go Audrina’s way. Back at the “Declare Yourself” event, Heidi goes up to Lauren as she has finally decided she wants to put the past behind them and try to move forward. Lauren is not thrilled and the conversation/confrontation just becomes awkward with Whitney and Kimberly standing in the wings.

The next morning, Lauren tells Audrina about her run-in with Heidi. She makes a comment that Heidi doing nothing about Spencer spreading the rumors is just as bad as doing the dirty work. Isn’t this a common theme with them? Last season Lauren was just as angry with Heidi as she was with Jen Bunny because she sat there and did nothing to stop Jen from hooking up with Brody. But anyway, over at The Jimmy Kimmel Live show we see Audrina working with her very first artist, Sean Kingston. I don’t know about you but it was nice to finally see Audrina being involved at work, when all we’ve really seen this season are the other three girls’ jobs. And side-note, did anyone else notice the use of the America’s Next Top Model music?

The long-awaited moment finally comes when Heidi instant messages Lauren at work and the two decide to meet up at Lauren’s apartment. But before Heidi goes over there, she comes home to Spencer commenting that he saw an interesting I-chat between Heidi and a certain Lauren. Can you believe that not only did Spencer have the audacity to read her conversation, but Heidi didn’t even question it! They’ve got an interesting relationship to say the least. So Heidi goes over to Lauren’s, with flowers in hand, and as soon as she enters you can immediately sense the tension. After a one-sided exchanging of pleasantries, the girls get into it. Heidi apologizes but still won’t admit that Spencer spread the rumors. Meanwhile, Lauren is welling up and you can see how truly hurt she has been this past year. But she doesn’t give in. Instead she says the best line of the season. “I want to forgive you and I want to forget you.”

So what do you think? Was Heidi genuine? Was Lauren too hard on her or is this friendship truly over?

MTV The Hills Recap What Goes Around

mtv the hills
It was Brody???  And we’re back to the sex tape. I think Spencer is the one who started the rumor. Given everything we know about him and how he operates I just don’t think it’s a stretch to think he’d be capable of something like this. We know how much he dislikes Lauren. Is it really that hard to believe he’s the culprit? Of course, I have no firsthand knowledge of anything so I can’t say with complete certainty that he did it. But come on. Does anyone really think it wasn’t him? Except Heidi? Was it just me or did she seem just the tiniest bit unsure in the last few seconds of the episode? I just don’t understand that relationship. It’s good that Audrina and Lauren seem to have their friendship back on track. I’m not sure I would have apologized to Audrina for being so overprotective of her. Yes, Lauren went through a lot last year. And yes, she’s trying to be a good friend by warning her friends away from guys who don’t seem to appreciate them. I think she did a good thing in trying to salvage her friendship with Audrina, but I personally couldn’t have apologized for giving her a hard time about Justin Bobby. He just doesn’t come across as a great guy. Has Audrina conveniently forgotten that Justin Bobby has abandoned her twice — once in Vegas and once at Brody’s? I don’t care what his excuse was. It’s not cool. I think it’s reasonable to expect your boyfriend to leave with you if you’ve gone someplace together.

What’s with Jen Bunny playing both sides? I know she’s not really, but she does seem to be stuck in the middle. She finally made up with Lauren and she’s also trying to keep her friendship with Heidi going. It’s got to be hard when she’s getting different information from all sides and trying to make sense of it all. I’m sure she doesn’t want to believe Heidi (and to a lesser degree Spencer) is responsible for the rumor. Heidi stayed friends with her when she had her falling-out with Lauren, so I’m sure she feels some loyalty towards Heidi. But did she forget that Heidi was the one who encouraged her to go after Brody, thereby causing this big rift in the first place? It’s interesting how all these people become so conveniently forgetful.

One person who isn’t going to let Heidi forget so easily is her boss, Brent Bolthouse. Good. She needs to take responsibility for her screwup. Even if Elodie bailed on her, she should have talked to her boss just to keep him in the loop. I’m glad she got some flak about it. She needs to realize how much work she has to put in to prove she actually earned that promotion. Actually, I’m not sure she can prove that, but it would be nice to see her actually busting her a– to prove herself. Whatev.

Well, all of last night’s drama was well worth the extra week’s wait for me at least.

The Hills Episode Recap What happens in Vegas

mtv the hills season 3

Guys! GUYS! Totes such hotness on “The Hills” last night! The gang all went out to Las Vegas to surprise Brody for his birthday and Lauren FULLY KISSED HIM? I think they may be getting back together! How great is that!? Lauren so deserves love!?! Meanwhile, Audrina TOTALLY THREW A BITCH FIT at her friends and some guy who is only wearing a towel because she thinks the rest of the girls are all, Don’t date Justin Ricky Lee Harvey John Wayne Bobby, but you know what? They were just trying to be friendly to him. And also?!?

She SHOULDN’T date him, he’s a major butt, right?!? Also, they finally let the fat girl talk and they gave her a name, but I forgot it, because, come on, fat girl, right? Also, also, Lauren got flashed by Lo’s vag and was all Brody, I saw Lo’s Britney! Which is so funny, because, like, Britney Spears also has a vagina that she is always flashing? I Anyway, back in L.A.? It’s Spencer and Heidi’s anniversary? And Heidi tells the old dude at Bolthouse that she can’t cover some event because her anniversary is that much more important, even though it’s with Spencer who is a major dick and still won’t tell his parents that they’re engaged? And old dude is all, Fine, whatever, just make sure someone covers it? And Heidi’s like, No problem? So she goes to Elodie—who she TOTALLY SCREWED OVER BEFORE—and is all, Hey, I really need you to cover this for me? And Elodie smiles and is like, Oh, sure, anything for you. Except what we know but Heidi doesn’t even know is that Elodie already made plans to quit her job? So Heidi’s at dinner with Spencer and the phone rings and someone’s all, You need to get down here now? And Heidi’s like, but Elodie’s covering it, and whoever’s on the other end is all, Nuh uh, Elodie quit? And we’re like, Hahahah, that’s what you get, you job-stealing bitch!?!?!?! So Heidi is fully, I have to go to work? And Spencer acts like the big gay baby he is? How does Heidi not see what a stupid mean jerk Spencer can be?!?!?!?!?!?! It, was, like, so, satisfying, oh, my, God, you, guys!?!? Also? This is the last “The Hills” I will ever have to watch?!???!? And it sort of makes me sad, because when I watch “The Hills” I forget about war and poverty and basic math? And I, like, don’t want to go back to caring about stuff or knowing the name of the President or reading books? But I guess I have to? I guess??!?!?!?!?!? Anyway, I’ll miss you, “Hills.” We’ll always have that time where that one girl said that really stupid thing and everyone was all, What? I’ll never forget it.

So these are the questions I have about last night’s episode:

1.  What do you think of what Elodie did to Heidi?

2.  Do you think there will be another hook up with Jason and Lauren?

3.  Was Spencer’s reaction over the top or did he have a right to be upset about Heidi having to leave?

As always, your comments are very much appreciated.  One final comment:  I wonder what Lauren’s rival Kristen is up to these days … Ta ta.

MTV The Hills Episode 7 They Meet Again

mtv the hills lauren and jason

The Hills Season 3 Episode 7 Recap – They Meet Again:

Is every single relationship on this show dysfunctional? The only people who seem to have a somewhat normal relationship are Whitney and Lauren. Audrina and Lauren are getting along (and usually do lately) because Lauren knows to keep her opinions to herself when it comes to Justin Bobby. We didn’t see Lo tonight, but I have a sneaking suspicion she really wouldn’t like what was going on with Lauren and Jason. I guess Spencer and Heidi’s relationship is going OK, but it pains me to think they are the least dysfunctional of all the couples. How about this: they’re good to each other but horrible to everyone else. Yep, I like that. You know who I think would be great in a relationship? Whitney. She’s cute and seems really great. Why aren’t the guys knocking down her door?

Work. Sigh. Let’s talk about work for a moment before we look at all these messy personal lives. Linda Love, West Coast editor of Teen Vogue, makes her first appearance of the season. The magazine is putting on the Young Hollywood party, featuring Marc by Marc, and Whitney’s in charge of scouting locations. They check out the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel (where Pretty Woman Julia Roberts gets her man). The space looks cool, but Linda is expecting to get 1,500 names so they need to find something bigger. Over at Bolthouse, Heidi is settling into her new position. Now you may remember Elodie congratulating Heidi on getting the job last week, but this week things sure are different. Elodie escalates those nasty looks she’s been giving Heidi to full-on word warfare — and I say it’s about time. I think we all agree that Heidi stabbed Elodie in the back so Elodie’s perfectly justified in what she says to Heidi. Heidi did have every right to go after that promotion but she should have been upfront with Elodie. That’s how you do business in today’s world and keep your friends.

After hours. What bad luck when Spencer and Heidi and Jason and Lauren both end up at Ketchup. Lauren and Jason go there just to relax and hang out while Spencer suggests the new hot spot to Heidi to celebrate her promotion. I think Lauren had the right idea to rise above it and ignore them. But Spencer’s greeting — when he’s never even met Jason — is not cool. Granted, I’m not a huge Jason fan, but I’m even less of a Spencer fan. Then:

Spencer: “Maybe she picked him up out of rehab.”
Heidi: “… out of jail.”
Heidi: “Maybe they’re back in the moviemaking action.”

These 2 are a bit much. Whatev. If Spencer hates Lauren as much as he claims to, I can believe something like this coming out of his mouth. But Heidi’s barbs just prove she will follow wherever Spencer leads. And let me just say that although Lauren says Jason seems like a different person, he’s probably not. Yes, he’s sober but Lauren catches him checking out another girl right in front of her. Hello?

Heidi and Spencer end up going to Don Antonio’s to celebrate her promotion. She’s upset that Elodie is taking Heidi’s promotion so badly and tired because she’s having trouble sleeping. I have no sympathy for her whatsoever.

Some other good lines:

Lauren: “Homeboy would poison my drink. Are you serious?”

Elodie: “You don’t even know what’s wrong and what’s right anymore. It’s so sad.”

Things to ponder:
• Heidi seemed to think she was being nice by sending Jason and Lauren drinks and is insulted when those drinks are refused. Does she have any right to feel that way?
• Was Lauren hanging back when Jason dropped her off at her apartment? Do you think she was waiting to get some action?
• Lauren offered to have “sober nights” with Jason when they’d go bowling or to a comedy club. Do you think she’s just setting herself up for another heartbreak? I know we all know Jason’s engaged in real life, but I don’t think he’s told her on the show yet.

Let me know what you guys think and thanks so much for all the comments so far.
